Photo booth print sizes explained
Classic strips tell a four-frame story. Postcard prints give one image more room. Choose by the photograph, the guest experience, and what you want people to take home.
The classic
A 2×6 strip turns one visit into a sequence
Classic strips typically combine several frames in a narrow vertical print. The repetition invites guests to change poses, build a joke, or watch a group fall apart in stages.
The Awesome Photobooth produces two 2×6 strips from each classic session, creating a natural keep-one, share-one pair.
- Best for multiple poses in one session
- Easy to slip into a wallet, book, or place setting
- Duplicate strips support guest books
- Artwork must stay concise because the format is narrow
The larger frame
Postcard-style prints give the group more visual space
A larger rectangular print can feature one primary image or a less crowded collage. Faces are easier to see, large groups read better, and brand artwork can coexist with a useful photograph.
The tradeoff is narrative: one large frame does not create the same rhythmic sequence as a classic strip.
Design at actual size
Protect the photograph from the artwork
Names, dates, logos, and campaign language all compete for limited physical space. A proof that looks generous on a laptop can become tiny when printed at two inches wide.
Review the design at 100 percent physical size. Check type, safe margins, contrast, and how much of the print remains photography.
Print the proof on ordinary paper, cut it to size, and hold it at arm's length. If the names disappear or faces feel tiny, revise the layout.
Make the choice
Match the format to the behavior you want
Choose strips for playful sequences, duplicate keepsakes, and guest-book workflows. Choose a larger print for bigger group portraits, simpler framing, or more visible event branding.
Ask the booth company to show real physical samples. Print density, trimming, color, and paper feel are impossible to judge from a web mockup alone.
